Red Raider Outfitter has always been about finding a way to give back. The recent Facebook competition with Aggieland Outfitters was no exception. In our efforts toward finding a way to give back, it was decided to put a price on every new ‘like’ Red Raider Outfitter’s Facebook obtained and donate it to The Haven.
Unfortunately, the amount of new ‘likes’ RRO received did not amount to a number we thought would help.
So we decided to give more.
Because of YOU, the fans, RRO was able to donate $250 to The Haven Animal Care Shelter!
The Haven is a non-profit private foundation founded by Dr. Brenda Wilbanks and Mr. Joe Wilbanks. It is a no-kill animal shelter that has been serving the Lubbock area since 1977. The Haven provides shelter and care for more than 120 animals, consisting of more than 70 dogs, 50 cats, a pig, and four horses.
In addition to many special needs animals, such as those with chronic illnesses or the elderly, The Haven also shelters a wide variety of adoptable dogs and cats in need of good, loving homes.
As well as sheltering abandoned animals, the Haven offers a pet therapy program as a service to the community. Through the program, The Haven hopes to teach respect for animals and educate the community about the value they provide. The Haven also offers a children’s program known as “Pets as Pals.” The program allows children the opportunity to interact with pets in a controlled environment and develop skills for life.
Dr. Wilbanks reminds that because the Haven is a private foundation, there are two things they can never have enough of: donations and volunteers.
