As our Apparel Graphic/Hard Goods Designer, you will use advanced design skills to create original graphic and/or textile designs that appropriately reflect quality design ethos for the four unique brands. You will proficiently use the Adobe Creative Suite on a Macintosh platform in the design process. You will work with merchandising management and other team members in design, development, and merchandising to ensure feasibility of designs, meeting price points, merchandising needs, product creation dates are met, design tools are effectively utilized, and cross-functional teamwork occurs as appropriate. You will communicate and present design concepts as well as produce presentation materials in conjunction with other team members for internal and external audiences. You will continue to build awareness of current trends and color, associated technology and sports-related products through research and light travel. In addition, you will participate in activities that increase working knowledge of products, product lines, the product development process, the commercialization process, and the target market in which our four brands operate.

Red Raider Outfitter™:
Red Raider Outfitter is a storied 37 year-old brand that is design-driven and creates authentically inspired products for Texas Tech fans all over the country. A distinctive athletic and trend driven focus unifies the brand. With offerings that include t-shirts, kid’s clothing, women’s apparel, and hundreds of other collegiate gift items. Red Raider Outfitter continues to expand with four locations in Lubbock, TX as well as a sister store, Student Union, located in the Galleria Shopping Mall, in Dallas, TX. Red Raider Outfitter is considered a leader in collegiate design and merchandising. Red Raider Outfitter has won awards for its in-house television commercials, and twice accepted the national collegiate design of the year trophy.
Major Focus (this brand will be your main focus)
· To execute the Red Raider Outfitter brand image through graphic design as directed by the owners.
· To be consistently aware of fashion and design trends, and to maintain an awareness of Red Raider Outfitter’s image as it relates to all products and all other media.
· To be the primary design artist for custom made apparel, headwear, and giftware, with a focus on sourcing and finishing.
· To be involved in graphic design, social media, advertising (print, digital, radio, television, etc.), in-store signage, and more as deemed fit by the owners.
CHROME™:
This brand has been listed as one of the top 5 trendiest boutiques in Texas, and was recently listed as “Top Store” by Shop Across Texas. The store was also identified as one of the top 40 retail destinations in Texas by national publication Lucky Magazine. CHROME focuses on launching up-and-coming brands before they hit mainstream retail. The store emphasizes sales in the shoe, apparel, accessory, and apothecary categories. From New York to LA showrooms, CHROME is widely recognized in the apparel industry as a tastemaker for the Midwest. CHROME is scheduled to open its second location in late summer 2012.
Minor Focus
· To maintain the CHROME brand image and support the graphic team in building and promoting in-store branding.
· To contribute to the marketing concepts for television, print, and radio media.
· To participate in store design, display, private-label branding, as well as traditional and social media strategies.
Sazón:
This is the company’s first initiative in the food service industry. The brand has 90% rating from Urban Spoon, and is simply a Texas Tech restaurant staple among students and fans. Coaches, players, and who’s who dine at this hotspot weekly. Sazón focuses on fresh, healthy Mexican food served fast. You will find a one in / one out most weekdays, and the weekend starts on Thursday nights at the bar.
Minor Focus:
· To maintain the Sazón brand image and support the graphic team in building and promoting in-store branding.
· To contribute to the marketing concepts for television, print, and radio media.
The Arrogant Texan®:
This is the company’s second initiative in the food service industry. This ice cream and vintage candy shop hybrid has become a local favorite. The Arrogant Texan is well known for serving Amy’s Ice Cream exclusively in Lubbock. The store is currently expanding, adding an additional 1,800 sq/ft to include BBQ and a full-service bar.
Minor Focus:
· To maintain The Arrogant Texan brand image and support the graphic team in building and promoting in-store branding.
· To develop private label apparel and gifts for the registered mark.
· To contribute to the marketing concepts for print, radio and social media.
· To aid in the process of licensing the trademarks for statewide production of food products, retail goods, and franchising implementation.
Qualifications
Required Skills and Experience
- Four Year degree in Art, Advertising or Design is a plus.
- 5+ years experience in Graphic Design
- Expertise in the latest computer graphic technology and programs, with proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop required
- Must work well under tight time constraints to assure timely delivery of projects
- Ability to work well with others
- Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
- Critical attention to detail (strong follow-up and follow-through)
- Experience with t-shirt printing a plus
- Portfolio required at time of interview. References required.
- Must maintain awareness of current fashion trends and collegiate look and feel
- Proven ability to apply and perform graphic design skills, including drawing/sketching, typography, ideation, color theory, use of texture, spacing, and scale, visual presentation development and layout that is supported by a portfolio of non-computer-based creative art and graphic design
